Growing up I never thought this post would happen but now here I am...
I have finally learned to see and appreciate the beauty in my hometown of Moose Jaw, SK. It's a wonderful place and I'm happy to call it home. Sure, it has its' downfalls. Many of which I'm sure you who are reading this would not even be slightly hesitant to point out HOWEVER that is not what this post is about. Not. At. All.
I've always noticed small things around this city that I love. For example, the 100 block of main street (I'm a sucker for vintage and historic architecture). It's only been as of late though that I have learned to see the larger picture, which is viewed mostly through a lens in my case. After living in another city for 2 years, I realised that coming home to this city was what I wanted. Both being away and learning photography has given me a new perspective of the place I have already spent more than 20 years in.
Learning to see beauty in the things that surround me has been one of the most powerful lessons I've learned so far. Creating a great photograph doesn't necessarily have to mean being in a famous or well renowned location. It can happen anywhere, even in your own back yard!
Below are a few examples of some of the photographs that I have created since moving back to Moose Jaw. There are no words; I hope the pictures speak for themselves.
